"BRAIN TUMOURS ARE THE CAUSE OF MORE DEATHS IN CHILDREN AND ADULTS UNDER 40 THAN ANY OTHER CANCER"

On Monday 23rd June 2008, Jodie’s Hippos will be completing a relay swim across the English Channel in memory of Jodie Adams, who passed away from a brain tumour on December 8th 2006 at the age of 28. The monies they raise will be in aid of the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. Charity Number 1060627.

They would like to raise over £20,000 and need your support. If you would like to support them please see below.

To give you some info on the charity Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust, Samantha died from a tumour and her parents started a trust in her name to raise funds for research into this neglected area of cancer. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killers of children and adults up to 40 years of age and yet only receives I think its 3% of the NHS research funds.

The way the trust works is that Samantha’s parents have retired and spend their time raising money to cover all the costs of running the charity so that 100% of the umbrella funds donations goes to research. None of the money that has been raised so far for Jodie’s charity has been spent, this still remains in a fund until Heather, Paul, Sam’ and I decide how we would like it used. We are still considering different brain tumour research (there are over 120 Types) or alternatively starting a training fellowship in Jodie’s name. We will keep you informed.

Thank you, we hope to make a difference.
