The family of a woman who died from a brain tumour have organised a charity walk in her memory.
Jodie Adams was 28 when she died in December following a five-year battle against her illness.

Now, 50 of her family and friends have organised a walk around the village where she lived, Cottingham, to coincide with Brain Tumour Awareness Week and raise money for research.

The six-mile walk starts at Cottingham Golf Course on Sunday and takes place in Jodie’s birthday week as she would have been 29 on October 28.

It has been dubbed the Hippo Hike because of Jodie’s love of hippos and the group is hoping to raise around £3,000 for the trust set up in her name to fund medical research.

Leading the walkers will be one of Jodie’s best friends, Rebecca Duck from Kettering, who said it will be the perfect way to remember Jodie, who loved sports and travel.

She said: “The way Jodie handled her illness was amazing. She picked everyone up and she fought right up to the end. Jodie was so brave and I don’t think any of us could have handled it the way she did.

“She always had a smile and never wanted to talk about her problems – she always wanted to help you with your troubles.”

Also taking part in the walk will be Jodie’s parents Trevor and Heather, her brother Sam and her fiancé Paul Glass.

Anyone who wants to join the group for the Hippo Hike should call Rebecca on 07709 411514.

Admission is £5 and walkers should meet at 9am for a 10am start.
